When Will I Get a Full Itinerary?
Once we have received and processed your applications forms, you will receive an email with the detailed trip itinerary and packing list.
What Are the Dates?
Depart Thursday from JYN 12:00PM. Return Sunday to JYN at 11:00PM.
How Do I Reserve a Spot?
Registration is now opwn. Please fill out entire registration form, which includes the following sections: Application Form, Code of Conduct, Health / Emergency Info & Disclaimer of Liability .
When is the Deadline for Applications?
Being that group rates must be booked well in advance, late registration (if space is still available) will be $650 without exception. Only applications accompanied with payment will be processed. (payment may be submitted online via credit card or delivered to JYN).
What About Supervision?
Participants will not be touring or going around NYC on their own. For the most part, we are together during all excursions, however, there are a few times during the trip that we are divided into smaller groups, such as during shopping on Canal Street, Time Square and 5th Ave. Each smaller group is assigned a chaperone and they must stay together for that time period.
Who Are the Chaperones?
The Chaperones are JYN Alumni who Rabbi Shmuli hand picks, based on responsibility, maturity and the ability to chaperone our teens in a safe and positive manner. As soon as the chaperone choices are finalized, this information will be communicated to all participants.
How Much Does the Retreat Cost?
- $650 early bird
- $725 regular price
- Deposit of $75 is due with registration.
Subsidies and scholarships available upon request.
What is the itinerary?
A detailed itinerary will be emailed to all registrants. Below is an abridged itinerary – subject to change as we finalize last details.
- Thursday: Please bring kosher snacks, dinner will be served on the bus.
- Friday: Welcome Breakfast, Shopping on Canal St., South Street Seaport, Empire State Building, Disney Store, Lunch in the city and much more.
- Friday Night: Lively Shabbat Services, Shabbat Dinner.
- Shabbat: Breakfast, Stump the Rabbi, Shabbat Services at Chabad World HQ, Lunch, Rest Time, Havdallah, Time Sq. Shopping, Dinner and Night activity.
- Sunday: Visit to the Rebbe’s Ohel, Breakfast, Brooklyn Crown Heights Touring, Lunch, Depart back to Toronto.
Who is the Retreat For?
Registration opens for the first week to participants of JYN. If space allows we will open up additional spots to bring friends. This retreat is open to Jewish teens grades 9-12 who want to have an awesome, memorable experience.
Tell Me About Transportation.
We will be traveling to New York by private coach bus from JYN. In New York we will travel by yellow bus and subway.
Can I Request to Stay with Friends?
Yes, you may request to room with friends; the earlier you register, the greater probability there is that we can accommodate your rooming requests.
How Much Spending Money Should I Bring?
All major expenses, such as accommodation, transportation and Shabbat Meals are covered in the registration fee; spending money will be used for breakfast, lunch, snacks or souvenirs.
What should I Pack?
Forget the tanks and shorts; get ready to brace chilly New York weather. Don’t forget to pack dressy Shabbat clothes. A full packing list will be emailed to you upon registration.
Where will I be staying?
This year our group will be staying all together at the Eshel Chabad Lubavitch Hospitality Center in Brooklyn. This facility which has dorm style apartments can accommodate up to 150 guests and will also accommodate us for our Shabbat meals in their banquet hall.
Do I Need to Bring Food?
No need to worry! All your meals are included, and Kosher of course! As this trip is Kosher, please commit to keeping Kosher for the duration of the trip, i.e. all snacks you bring should be Kosher as well.
What is Our Refund Policy?
A full refund, minus the $75 deposit, is available until two weeks before the trip. No refunds will be given within two weeks of departure unless a medical letter is presented or an emergency situation arises. Barring cancellation of the Shabbaton, refunds will not be made in the case of extreme weather.
